Caleb Williams looks good, Trevor Lawrence does not as Bears blow out Jaguars in London
The Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is growing as they expected when they drafted him as the number one pick in the draft. Now I can say that the Jaguars’ quarterback Trevor Lawrence? Not so much. Williams was trading today in London, with the Bears getting four touchdowns from him and the Bears easily beating the Jaguars. But Lawrence still drives his balls into the ground and has some errors that Year Four, former No. 1 overall pick shouldn’t be having. The Bears got two touchdown catches each from Cole Kmet and Keenan Allen, and Kmet also replaced Scott Daly as long snapper when he was injured. Chicago also got a rushing touchdown from D’Andre Swift and after a struggle in the early season, he has shown much better performance over the last few games. With a record of 4-2, the Bears do still have realistic playoff aspirations, and it would not be considered a shock to have Williams be a part of a playoff team in his rookie season especially when you consider that for so long the Bears have been searching for the guy, the face of the franchise with which to build around.
Mac Jones in the fourth quarter Lawrence 23 out of 35 for 234 yards two touchdowns and one interception in the last. The Jaguars have slipped to 1-5 on the season and they have looked as inept as any team in pro football at this point. Shad Khan provided support to Trent Baalke and Doug Pederson recently but how can anyone ever deem this team worthy of some faith from outside of the facility? In fact, the largest question mark in front of the Jaguars might be whether they use the first overall draft in the following season, the 2025 draft, to find Lawrence’s successor. Who would have thought that after six games, Williams’ future looks brighter than Lawrence in Jacksonville after three and a half years?
